Simon said: “If there’s a campaign, and I think the campaign’s aimed directly at me, it’s stupid. Me having a No 1 record at Christmas is not going to change my life particularly. Rattled eh!

I salute Johnnie Void’s spirited advocacy of a STACEY SOLOMON victory for the Xmas No.1. Staceyis obviously a hugely likeable working class girl (give her a chat show) but Susan Boyle and Paul Potts were also likeable proles and did their victories do anything to advance the class struggle comrades. No! Capitalism will always provide individuals a way out of poverty through sport or music. A victory for RATM will be a collective victory – 548,000 on Facebook so far – and bring anti-authoritarian song to millions and boost confidence that the media moghuls can be beaten. And if in one sphere of life.. why not others? Remember comrades – ‘WHEN THE MODE OF THE MUSIC CHANGES THE WALLS OF THE CITY SHAKE’

‘548,000 of people have signed-up to a campaign organised online by Jon Morter, which calls on people to buy Rage Against The Machine’s infamous, insurrectionary 1992 track “Killing In The Name” and send that to the top of the singles chart on December 25 instead of whichever contestant wins the 2009 competition. “Fed up of Simon Cowell’s latest karaoke act being Christmas Number One? Me too… So who’s up for a mass-purchase of the track ‘Killing In The Name’…as a protest to the ‘X-Factor’ b******s?”, explain the Facebook and Twitter groups.

The most memorable line in arguably Rage’s greatest moment is probably “F*** you, I won’t do what you tell me”

OK – there are endless clever arse arguments you can make on this one and I am far to old to know anything about RATM. ‘False choices’ ‘making money out of rebellion’ ‘youth for RATM oldies for Cowell’  ‘middle class kids v proles’ blah blah………..off the fucking fence comrades – and I’ll admit to some initial confusion – but the simple question is ‘ which winner will increase the confidence and combativity of our class. RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE. There i’ve chosen – I await to be shot down…….but dont cop out for neither comrades – it’s far too important for that!
