Tiananmen massacre 1989

It is 20 years since the Chinese regime ordered the army to slaughter protesting students and workers

The anniversary of the Tiananmen massacre casts a huge shadow over China today, despite the best efforts of the so-called ‘communist’ party-state to erase it from history. Thousands are attending meetings, concerts and demonstrations in Hong Kong to commemorate the horrific slaughter of unarmed civilian protesters. This wave of activity will culminate in a huge torch-lit vigil in Hong Kong’s Victoria Park on the evening of 4th June. Tiananmen Massacre – Tank Man: the 1989 Chinese Student Democracy Movement, a documentary film on You Tube, is a good introduction to the history of this extremely important event, containing graphic film material. This film can be used by socialists and pro-democracy activists for meetings and discussions on the topic of the ‘June 4th Incident’
