The Haunted House on a Hill overlooking Penistone and Holmfirth

On our way to Robert Fletcher & Son Ltd – Greenham, Oldham, we spotted this little gem, so on a sunny but cold day, Sheffield Urban Explorers set out. A walk up a public footpath was our only access, slowly it emerged on its hill stood there in the midday sun, we arrived, there is not much here.

What is left is a ruin, it seems to have been bought by http://www.hepworth-drainage.co.uk/ and the owners of a part derelict quarry that is at the side of this house, they bought it to demolish and mine under the house.

Here it has stood for 50 years, there was no mains going into the house, just a well and talking to a few locals there seems to be another in the area, they told us their little knowledge of this place, like us they feel the place is haunted and if not it had that feel. An easy explore, if a little muddy but would be wonderful to camp there in summer, be there overnight.

Here are some images..
